Music City Academy

Proposed opening in Fall of 2027, Music City Academy will be a 9-12 school that delivers a rigorous, career-connected education through the unifying power of sports.

Founder: Kevin Dyson

Dr. Kevin Dyson, former No. 16 pick in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Oilers (later the Titans), and later a member of the Carolina Panthers, has joined the Nashville Incubator team after four outstanding years as Principal of Centennial High School in Franklin, Tennessee. With nearly 20 years in secondary education, including 12 years as an administrator, he brings deep leadership expertise and a passion for cultivating future leaders.

Before his tenure at Centennial, Dr. Dyson led Grassland Middle School as Principal for two years. He remains best known for his unforgettable NFL moments, the 2000 “Music City Miracle” and Super Bowl XXXIV’s “One Yard Short”, and he often reflects on his upbringing by a single mother as the force that shaped both his athletic drive and personal character.

The oldest of four children, he once joked that he’d play in the NBA and buy his mother a house. While she championed his dreams, she also insisted he prioritize education. He heeded that wisdom, earning two master’s degrees from Trevecca Nazarene University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Practical Practice, all after retiring from professional football.

Dr. Dyson is also a published author of Qualified, So I Am Justified: Redefining Success, a leadership consultant, and a keynote speaker, sharing the lessons of his journey and inspiring the next generation of leaders (kevindyson.com).
